Consent is an important topic to learn about and there is always more to learn. We continue to define what consent means to us and each other. There are also a lot of different situations that have never really been modeled for people. The purpose of the Consent Made Simple series is to provide examples of positive examples of consent being properly observed from a variety of different situations and viewpoints. These scenarios apply to any person of any gender.
Episode 25
In this episode, we have a couple exploring a conversation about anal sex. After their partner expressing interest, the other person indicates that anal sex has never been super great for them and they aren’t interested in it. The conversation is kept light and respectful and neither partner is shamed for their interest or lack of it.
Keeping communication open in relationships is important. Interests may change over time between a couple as they learn more about different types of sex. Couples should be able to explore this conversation in an open way that doesn’t damage the trust between two people.
