Consent Made Simple: Episode 8

Consent is an important topic to learn about and there is always more to learn. We continue to define what consent means to us and each other. There are also a lot of different situations that have never really been modeled for people. The purpose of the Consent Made Simple series is to provide examples of positive examples of consent being properly observed from a variety of different situations and viewpoints. These scenarios apply to any person of any gender.
Episode 8
This time we find ourselves with two people just getting to know each other. One person asks for consent for a kiss and the other takes this as consent and gives them a kiss. The 2nd person then invites the 1st back to there place. The first person doesn’t immediately jump in with a “yes”, so the 2nd lets them know they are open to talking about what the 1st person is comfortable with.
Often out in the world, people take one consent as a blanket consent for all types of activities. This is simply not the case. Consent should be obtained, negotiated, or discussed prior to every activity. Just because someone is interested in someone else and wants to be a little physical, doesn’t mean that they are ready to go farther than that.
